Karen Cieri

Backbone Leader,
Sanderson Alliance

The Sanderson Alliance is a whole-of-community collective in the Northern Suburbs of Darwin. The Alliance was started by schools and non-government social service providers to create a community where all our children learn and thrive.

Karen Cieri has a passion for collective learning and systemic change. All of Karen’s professional roles since 2000 have been in efforts to create systemic change and transform outcomes in the education sector. Most relevant have been in developing and implementing whole-of-government strategies for Indigenous education and initiatives to enhance data-informed decision making and resource allocation.

In more recent years Karen has turned her focus to exploring leadership styles that are supportive of transforming outcomes for children. Karen currently researches ways of collectively thinking and acting on complex issues. Karen has a bachelor degree in psychology from the University of Queensland and is currently undertaking doctoral research into shared decision-making at Charles Darwin University.
