Dr Jennifer Cartmel
Dr Jennifer Cartmel is a senior lecturer in the School of Human Services and Social
Work, Griffith University. She has been involved in a wide range of research projects
within the children’s services, most recently about children’s social and emotional
learning. She wrote My Time Our Place Framework for School Age Care in Australia
which is used to guide programming in Outside School Hours services.
Prior to working in the university sector Jennifer taught in preschools and primary schools
including the hospital school, and worked in outside school hours services. Jennifer
has presented at International and national conferences about the school age care
sector and workforce development.
She is a member of the World EducationResearch Association International Research Network for Extended Education. Jennifer is Associate Editor for the International Journal of Playwork Practice and
Reviews Editor for Journal of Social Inclusion.
